Grußwort des Commanders British Forces Germany Brigadier Ian Bell zum 34. IMM

To all Participants,

It is a great honour to add my welcome to the Foreword for the 2017 International Mönchengladbach Military Competition. I am sure that this event will again prove to be a testing but enjoyable competition and serve as another great opportunity for you to display the qualities that unite us as NATO partners.

The importance of multinational training remains as important as ever, and the Internationaler Mönchengladbacher Militärwettkampf will enable you to share knowledge, improve understanding and develop interoperability. I hope you enjoy the experience and gain as much benefit from your involvement as possible.

I again offer my thanks to Brigadegeneral Gorgels and his team from Landeskommando Nordrhein-Westfalen and the local Bundeswehr Reservist Association for working so hard to organise this prestigious event.

I want to take this opportunity to give a special thanks to Oberst d.R. Michelis, who with his team have over the years delivered an outstanding and extremely smoothly run competition. Having created the International Mönchengladbach Military Competition in 1984 as a mechanism to promote harmony between NATO allies and after organising these events for more than 30 years, Oberst Michelis is handing over this responsibility to Oberleutnant d.R. Markus Stops.

I have no doubt that the 2017 International Mönchengladbach Military Competition will be a challenging, enjoyable and memorable experience for all involved.

I wish you all the very best of luck.

Mit kameradschaftlichen Grüßen aus Bielefeld

Brigadier Ian Bell
